About 330 faculty, counselors, librarians and educational technicians at Community College of Allegheny County will see an average 3 percent increase in wages in 2013-14 under provisions of a wage re-opener approved by school trustees late Thursday.
The re-opener, effective Sept. 1, is part of a labor pact between CCAC and Local 2067 of the American Federation of Teachers. The current agreement, which took effect in 2011, included raises averaging 3 percent in 2011-12; 3.25 percent in 2012-13; and a provision allowing 2013-14 to be negotiated later, CCAC spokesman David Hoovler said.
Annual salaries across the bargaining unit average $65,000, he said. The increase is expected to cost CCAC $650,000.
Several other pay-related changes were approved by trustees under the re-opener in areas including required travel between multiple work locations and costs related to required certifications and other professional work.
The union earlier voted to ratify the re-opener, which was negotiated between CCAC administrators and the union bargainers, Mr. Hoovler said.
